About Amber Fort (Amer Fort)
Amber Fort, part of the UNESCO-listed Hill Forts of Rajasthan, was the capital of the Kachhwaha rulers before Jaipur was built. Its courtyards, the mirror-work Sheesh Mahal, Diwan-e-Aam and Ganesh Pol look down on Maota lake. Jaigarh Fort on the ridge above is linked to it by a tunnel.

- Go early - by 11 AM the queues and heat build up.
- Panna Meena Kund stepwell is a 5-minute drive from the fort.
